I recently acquired a c1950 Omega Seamaster, 352 caliber, and have questions about the operation of the bumper mechanism. Is it possible to wind the watch with the stem? Advisable? Is there a "start-up" procedure for winding a fully spent watch? Is there anything else I should know about this caliber and/or bumpers in general? Grateful for the wisdom of the group--

I also recently bought a bumper automatic Omega (calibre 351; see p.18 of "Which wristwatch did you wear today?"). On mine, one can wind using the stem when the crown is locked fully flush with the case, just like on a manual-wind watch -- I do so about 10 turns -- then normal movement while wearing the watch will keep it wound. Mine keeps time to within 7 seconds/day or so. Not bad for a 55-year-old watch!
