What am I doing over here?
Can anyone tell me if a Hamilton 17j grade 987 movement is any good, rare,common?

Brain the 987 hamilton movement is a great movement, very well made and a great timekeeper ..

I have repaired several of these in the last few months and have found them to be a quailty movement and i think easier to repair than most pocket watch movement,s.. Smile

brian, I agree with Sammy. The 987 and its variations are great movements. They were common and used from the beginning up into the late 1940's.

According to Rene Rondeau's book:
"Production ran from 1926 to 1948, in several slight variations... A total of 1,160,392 were produced." That's a bunch of movements!
