Tony,

Hamilton produced a number of long, lean, curved watches in the mid-1930, both in solid gold and in gold-fill. I suspect that they witnessed the success of the gruen curvex watches of that era, and made some of their own.

The Carlisle was made in 1937 and is distinguished by it's long and fairly narrow case. I find it similar to the Clark (1936)and the wider Linwood, also made in 1937. All of these watches are prone to wear, particular on the high points of the bezel and on the lugs. The lug tips can be expecially prone to holes.

I am not aware of the production level of the Carlisle, but I don't see it nearly as often as I had in the past.

Bill & Tony,
I don't know about the Carlisle. But here's a picture of a nice Hamilton Linwood that I've got from the 1930's. It also apprears the Linwood may be the rareset one of the three (Clark, Carlise & Linwood)

Here is an interesting auction of a very fine Linwood. The lug ends are always an issue...

Note the very common significant wear on the lugs of this Linwood.

Bill,
I wonder if there are many Hamilton Carlisles or Linwoods that do not have any wear on the lug tips.
