I just got back from checking out a few antique shops in the area. One had a 16s Illinois watch marked on the dial and movement "Illinois Watch Case Co." Not sure of the movement and didn't think about writting down the # It was a 7 jewel and was recased in a Montauk case.
Would this just be a private lable watch from Illinois?

Hard to say what the movement is but the Illinois Watch Case Co. was not related to the Illinois Watch Co.

Looking in American Pocket Watches Beginning to End by Meggers, there were several watches listed for this company, one was a 7 jewel made by the Trenton Watch Co. in a 16s, Illinois Watch Co. also made some movements for them, several 18s.

If you are interested in it, it would need a better look at the movement to figure out who made it.

Tom,

I wasn't interested in the watch, just querious.
It may well be the Trenton. It looked like an Illinois to my untrained eye.
Thanks for the interest, and the comment.
