The Illinois Getty Grade 178 is/was a very low production Rail Road Grade pocket watch that was elusive for a long time. At the time that the Illinois watch Book by Bill Meggers/Roy Ehrhardt there was one known in existence.

Are any of the grade 178 marked 178 on the movement.

None are marked 178 Illinois didn’t put the grade numbers on very many watches. You will find marked “ 186 “ “ 187 “ and “ 189 “ ones occasionally. Also later some marked “ 706 “ when Hamilton took over they marked a bunch as 167 & 169. And of course the 161 and 163 BUNN specials
