Kurt HenrySeth Thomas Parlor Calendar
I recently acquired a lower calendar unit for my S.T. #1 Parlor Calendar Clock. It is an original Mix Bros patent model circa 1863. Has anyone ever disassembled one of these units for cleaning? If so how difficult was it?

Eddie G. Hinesgreetings kurt, what you should do before you take it apart is figure out precisely how it works, make some drawings so you know what happens when the cylinders are indexed, pay careful attention to any part of it that is spring loaded, protect the cyclinders so they won't get dirty and take some pictures from different views so you know exactly what part goes where. and last but not least never oil or put grease on a lower calender movement. just because you havn't done it before doesn't mean you can't do it. good luck. eddie
