New Find - A Cogdon
About two years ago, I acquired a marine chronometer by T. S. Cogdon & Son, 28 Budge Row, London. J. Betts of the Greenwich Observatory dates it to 1865. Two weeks ago while Googling for data on Cogdon I found this watch. The watch dates to 1892, and the firm was still using the same address. The case maker is John Woodman, and is mentioned in Priestley's book an pages 43-4. This kind of find is what makes this hobby such fun. The seller was in Argentina, and made a prompt delivery. The watch is nothing special, but finding one with this name is really neat.
