Well I hope all my American friends on Chapter 185 had a good Thanksgiving holiday, we have our Thanksgiving in Canada earlier in October. I am posting an interesting Hamilton Private label from Manitoba, here are a couple of dial pictures;

Greenwood B.C. is located in the Boundary District of southern B.C. and was a large mining community in its heyday. It still has kept its city status, and is the smallest city in Canada.

The movement;

L. Brandt & Freres S.A.
GRADE CCR
ADJUSTED TO 5 POSITIONS.

Larry,

Your watches and descriptions are very interesting!

Without your pictures we would never see these important treasures.

Thank you,

Don

Thank you for your kind comments Donald.

Today I have a display an interesting dial variation on a 21 Jewel Eaton's Gallet Bros. pocket watch. I has listed my other one earlier. Here is a photo of the movement.

While Eaton's pocket watches usually came in their own special cases. This watch came in a J.Boss gold filled. Here is a photo of the case.

What a wonderful thread. I was, however, disappointed that I didn't see any South Bend watches. I read through the entire thread but perhaps there was one that I missed.

I found a watch in my collection that might be a "Canadian" Private Label. I'm not really sure but I'll post a picture of it anyways. The movement is merely a standard SB Grade 347.

Thank You for your kind remarks Frank. Your private label from St. Boniface is interesting. It is a French-Canadian community that is part of Winnipeg. I have one 16 South Bend with a 24-hour dial. I have not seen any private labels but know of one that I would like to have in my collection."orfevre specilaiste" translates into "Goldsmith specialist"

The Riddell Co. was in Griffentown, Point St. Charles and was a Watch inspector for all the Canadian RR's originating there which puts you into Montreal.

The movement for the Riddell & Vinet piece which I have cleaned and adjusted to RR timing is a very fine Waltham 645 for which I obtained a replacement setting Lever from none other than Mr. Riddel!

Larry, thanks very much for that information on the "Bernier" PL watch. I always wondered what "Orfevre Specilaiste" meant. Gold specialist indeed. If I find another one like it maybe we could work out a trade. Smile
