The Church Automaic Facing And Recessing Machine "Click" to Login or Register
posted March 14, 2005 09:26
Many facing and turning operations were done on factory built bench lathes tooled up for a particular job each of which required an operator.
With the use of Churches's automatic lathe ,blanks are taken from a loading tube, placed in the chuck, cutting tool advances and does its work then retires. When the chuck opens the turned blank is ejected and a new one received and so on. The attendant, who can care for a number of machines, has for his principal work the sharpening and renewing of the cutting tools. This machine was patented in 1890.
