it appears the item in the second pic is some type of "drill"... the pulleys on the side would lead the drive belt to a treadle wheel below the bench, the belt would wrap around the spindle and make it rotate.

i assume the items in the first image fit into the spindle somehow?

is it possible this is some type of burnishing tool??

look forward to the answers....

BTW, I like the overall ruler...

i guess I need to clarify my question a little.the first picture looks like it might be stumps of some sort but don't look like anything i have seen on any stacking set..
i do believe the second pricture is a drill or polshing. tool maybe..

they were togther so the big question what the heck is this..

A man in Canada who sells on ebay sometimes wants to know what these tools are before he sells them...I always enjoy looking at these pieces and am glad to help him if can..
but on these i did not know what to say..

I have been looking in what books I have on tools and have not been able to find this.

It looks similar to this tool, which was used at the Waltham Watch Co factory.

Samie:

I can't tell you much about the tool, but I recognize the ruler. It's from the Great Western Garment Company, a manufacturer of blue jeans and coveralls, they were based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba. They went out of business in the 1960s but I remember they used to give out these rulers with the purchase of their clothing. Smile

I think that the tool that looks like a staking anvil with pullys is what is known as a spotting tool. It was used to finish, or refinish watch plates with a circular pattern. The tool that looks like big stumps with a stake could be a hub balance wheel holder set. Possibly used to set a balance wheel on so the screws could be adjusted.

Does the vertical stake reciprocate like a mini triphammer?
