What tools are needed to replace a jewel? "Click" to Login or Register
posted
Hi,
I have a 18s Hampden with a bad jewel on the shaft that drives the seconds hand. Its broken to the point that the movement isnt running. I would like to replace it. I have looked at ebay and the web and I have seen a few different tools advertised as jeweling tools from Seitz sets to what look to be hand held pushers. What is really needed to replace the average jewel?

Hi Jim
Is the broken jewel on the dial side or the balance wheel side.

If it is broken on the dial side. it is most likely not set in a bushing.

Can you post a photo.

Hi Eugene
It is on the plate that the dial mounts on. But it looks to be completely visible on the side with the balance.
