Wayne: This is a set of polishing blocks, the steel surface is used with diamatine on the top block, then jewelers rouge (crocus), and mineral oil with polishing powder on the bottom block, this was used to bring about a highly fine finish to steelwork, watch parts, screw heads, etc. I have attached a page from Benjamin Allen & Co. 1892 catalog Larry Buchan | |||
