Here are two more items I found that I thought were interesting. Would someone explain the Keystone Elgin name for me?

Geo,

My guess would be the combination of a Keystone watch case (Keystone hallmark on pouch) and an Elgin movement.

Now THAT is a cool item!

Now all you need to do is find a watch from the run SN1623501-1624500!

And no, I know nothing more about these Keystone-Elgins than the extremely brief mention in the so-called Elgin master records and none have shown up in my eBay logs.

Wayne...What is so special about 1,623,501 to 1,624,500 run?

Here is one that is 1,558,157. It is really dirty and it looks as if the staff is still good.

As noted in the link I posted, there is a very terse note saying that this run was made for the Kenstone Watch Case Co. See SN1623501-1624500.

Wayne,

Do you think Keystone purchased 18s KW movements from Elgin, cased them and sold complete watches under the Keystone name? If this occurred, would we also expect to see Keystone on the dial and movement? I'm going to check all of my 18s KW watches for that S/N range.

Geo,

Would an 18s watch fit in the pouch you have pictured? Also, did the tool (case opener?) come with the pouch?

John.....I think the 6 size Elgin fits nicely.
The 18 size Illinois (I think) is too big.
The case opener was not in the pouch. Does that mean that Keystone Elgins must have been made in more then one size?

Geo,

I really have no idea. The serial numbers that Wayne posted were for an 18s Keystone-Elgin. Since an 18s size is too big for the pouch, I would assume they made runs in smaller sizes too. Thanks for posting the comparison pictures!

Here is an interesting item on Ebay referring to Keystone-Elgin and J. Boss.
