This is a picture of a Southbend [The] Studebaker 229 serial number 598630 with a Montgomery face. I think that is what the face is called. 21j in excellent condition run great, looks great. I was sitting in my grandfather workbench since 1946. Grandfather was a watchmaker and my dad and I have been going through all the stuff his dad and him have collected over a 60+ year period. If anyone has any additional information or knowledge we would be greatful. It will be sometime next week before I star posting more watches.

Nice looking watch. The grade 229 is a size 16 that was one of the Railroad approved South Bend grades. According to the South Bend on-line serial number look up your watch was made during the second run or 1909. They reserved 1000 numbers in run 2 starting with serial number 598,001 and ending with serial number 599,000 Total production of the grade 229 was 6,000 watches. They made 2 runs in 1909, 2 runs in 1910, 1 run in 1912, and 1 run in 1918.
