This watch sold on Ebay as a Studebaker watch. It has a South Bend Studebaker dial but the chassis sure isn't South Bend. It also has a strange looking case. Does anyone know what kind of watch and what kind case it is? I feel sorry for the guy who bought this on Ebay if he thinks he got a genuine South Bend Studebaker watch.

It looks like a Swiss movement because of the + symbol, doesn't even have any case screws in it. I notice the seller is in Uruguay. Looks like a dial that was just fit on an old movement & slapped in a case. Tom

A closer look at the case appears that it might be an old stop watch case. The button next to the pendent has a flat face on the inside of the case.

It's a swiss movement. It looks similar to an early Omega movement. You can tell thats it's 100% swiss from the "A" and "R" (next to the "F" and "S") on the balance cock, which stands for "advance" and "retarde" (fast and slow in french). Also the way the dial is held in place (the dial screws) are the typical swiss design and there are only two dial feet as opposed to the usual three dial feet that would be on an American movement (and all South Bend movements). The case could be an old stopwatch case or it could be an old swiss case that is for a "pinset" movement.
