Keith-

I bought the 337 off ebay since I didn't have one yet in the colection. Puts me down to 5 to go to finish the collection off and the last ones will cost me a penny or two... Here's a picture of the 337 marking so everyone can see. I didn't see any real clear pics of it on here, so thought I would share this one.

Thanks Lorne,I am wondering if this dial could
be correct for this movement. Anybody know?

I was pondering that but was unwilling to broach the subject.

My first thoughts based only on things that rattle about in my head is that a double sunk marginal minute dial would belong on a higher 5 position railroad watch.

I'll poke thru the South Bend catalogues and see if I can find anything.

The 1909 South Bend catalogue (second post in this forum) mentions a double sunk dial for the 345 so you are good there.

As to whether they were using a marginal minute dial at that time I am not sure.
-----------------
Montgomery Dial

First used on AT&SF in 1899 & became their approved dial in 1906.

Elgin began using it in 1910.
Illinois……………..……1911.
Hamilton………….....…1912
------------------
I got the above Montgomery dial info "somewhere on the internet" so I don't know how accurate it is.

The marginal minute dial eliminated the 6 in the seconds chapter and was supposedly a way to avoid paying royalties on the Montgomery patent so it would have come along after the Monty dial.

If someone can corroborate or refute the above, please do so.

Thanks Lorne. I was concerned about the font being in cursive instead of block form. But I did find the cursive dial here in the 1909 catalog A. It is not on a marginal dial. So as the years "jive" I believe this one to be correct.

That is one handsome pocket watch Roger. I would have picked it up for the dial alone, not even considering period correct aspects.

great dial and nice watch. It seems you could look for regulator arm replacement, hard to say for 100% from that picture. You could compare with grade 337 from picture above - it has proper one.

Thanks guys. You are right Rafal about the regulator arm and I am looking. Is the 337 or 345
the only ones that will work?

I found a parts movement grade 332.Looks like it has a good regulator arm and will fit on the 345. I
am unsure how to go about removing and replacing it. Any suggestions?

Hi Roger,

grade 332 is a hunter so it has part which holds hair spring on the other side, I think you would look for open face model to get that part.

Regarding removal/installation. I have the same problem, but cant find any proper info how to do it... So far I was able to remove arm without damaging it - I used razor blade which I squeezed between arm and the bridge and gently lifted up so arm jumped off its post. I did some research and it seems to be pressed fit but I didnt tried it yet. You have to be careful not to bend pins under the arm.
