I just bought a new mainspring for my Illinois 12 size watch.
The last one i bought i took it out of the package and it broke in 2 spots. Is there special precautions i should take?
I know you should not handle it too much with our hands because you can corrode them. Are there other precautions?

Kevin,

Was this a white alloy spring from S. LaRose? I remember other members complaining about some of their springs breaking. If so, make sure you get a refund and ask for another one from a different batch. Otherwise, you can always go to Uncle Larry's or dashto.com and see if you can find a genuine NOS spring.
