Anyone out there replace top plate jewels? "Click" to Login or Register

I have an unmarked Waltham adj3p 640 that has a cracked 2nd wheel jewel in the pillar plate.

Can anyone coach me through the replacement process for a pressed jewel?

Anyone want to replace it for a nominal fee?

Waltham is the only major brand I don't have a running Trolley watch for.

Thanks

Paul,

Pressed plate jewels are super tough - my Brother.

You "could" reach out to Paul Davis.

He is one of the good guys...

Paul,
If you have a staking set you can do it yourself. If your set has a micrometer You are in better luck. Place the pillar plate on the anvil and set the mike for that depth.
Use the regular set to punch out the old jewel. Place the new jewel on the anvil and carefully press the new one into the pillar plate. Don't get it too deep.
