I have a 574 Elgin with one of the case screws broken off flush with the plate (bottom half of screw). Could someone give me an idea of how to remove this broken screw? Thanks very much in advance.

I have a Bergeon screw remover. I think it is part number 30209. It has two little shafts that cut into both ends of the screw. Once the screw is caught by the cutter, it can be screwed out. This has got to be the fastest way to remove a screw with a broken head.

Scott: Thanks very much for the information. Is the Bergeon screw remover tool an item that can still be purchased from the watch supply houses?

Here is a link to the tool I have. It is about 1/2 way down the page.
