Gary E. CochranElgin Convertible Staff Question
I have a 16 sz. Elgin Convertible on my bench...It needs a staff...My Elgin book calls for a 861-C staff...Does anyone know the difference between a 861 and a 861-C staff...

Dushan GrujichG'Day!
The only difference between 861 and 861C is in the Oil Groove of the 861C staff.
Cheers
Dushan

Samie L. Smiththe elgin 861c is for a 37 size 8 day clock movement and a few early 16 size movements
it is 533 long and the dia where the roller table fits is 63 and lenght from top of balance seat to bottom end of staff is 273
861 is 534 long and where the roller table fits is 60 and lenght form top of balance seat to the bottom of the staff is 276.
Some of very early elgins will use the 861c
