stripped thread on stem "Click" to Login or Register
posted
i have a practice- parts watch with a stripped thread on the crown or stem.I would like to fix it but do not really want a permament bond like crazy glue.
How expensive are the taps or dies to rethread?
Are they a good investment ?

Kevin,

Re-threading the stem means threading to a smaller size. Re-tapping the crown means tapping it to a larger size. In either case, that particular combination of stem and crown will not work aftyer you do either of the above. You'll likely end up replacing either, or both.
