I was diassembling and cleanig a parts watch the other day, when I got curious about how easily a plate could be scratched. Under magnification,I found that the sleightest drag or grip could be seen![Damaskeened nichol plates]

Question: Do non-mar tweezers eliminate this? Or am I doing something terribly wrong? Knowing now that this tiny damage is so easy to do,I am very tempted to switch to non-mar tweezers,or try a rubber based covering paint on my current ones. Confused Confused

Need some advise and answers,

I was advised by a very experienced watchmaker/collector to use a hard brass tweezers to reduce the chances of scratches.

...as with my choice of golf club iron heads made of soft 'feel' carbon steel, I prefer and use carbon steel tweezers that are properly 'honed'...have learned this much in my watch work that feel is paramount to handling and mannoevuring these micro-machines...Jim C
