992B 5 Digit Question "Click" to Login or Register

Hello Repairmen
I just purchased a Hamilton 992B Serial #37XXX. Now my question is, When I wind the watch clockwise there is the usual clicking sound and the watch is winding. And running. But when I turn the crown counterclockwise there is no clicking. The person I bought it from told me the watch was just serviced 3 weeks ago. No other Hamiltons I have do this. Is this right? Or whats wrong?

Thx
Gary

Gary,
Maybe it's packed with grease?

Hi Brian
Thank You for the responce. I will seek out my own repair man here in Ohio, But I thought I would get more than one reply.

Gary,

I think some of us are hesitant to give advice in this instance because there are different things to check out. For example, there are possible issues under the dial and it may turn out to be comparitively easy to correct.

Obviously something is wrong, I would want to check it step by step if it were mine.

I often offer my advice (or 2 cents) concerning repair issues but... honestly... I have never encountered that and don't have a clue.

I can't see any solution other than the partial or complete disassembly of the watch.

Sorry! Confused

Thank You Peter and Lindell
I understand where you are coming from. My watch has an appointment with the Dr. after the first of the year. He's booked Eek and will squeeze me in then. Smile

Thx

For those interested I will try to explain what was found to be wrong with my watch.
The lever that you pull out to set the watch and there is also another small flat piece there that work togeather with the clutch assembly. These were bent in such a way that the watch would set and run properly.
There is also suppose to be a small spring in there to keep pressure on the one lever thats why you would feel and hear the clicking. Well that spring was not there.
I learned that:
If the watch was serviced as I was told, the service man did not do what he was paid to do. And did this delibertly.
Or the service man and seller of this watch knew of the problem and tried to cover it up.
Or there never was a service man involved.

Gary,
The below image shows the location of "clutch level spring" that you refer to as being missing.
