Roger, some of the many reasons and "fixes" for the latch not holding are;

Detent in cover worn out leaving nothing for the locking spur to engage.Fix: Have a Jeweler with a micro-welder build up the lost metal and re-fashion the detent

Cover is "sprung" so that the latch cannot engage. Fix, confirm there is excessive gap at the latch and if so bend the adjacent sides out slightly to cause the gap to close.

Cover hinges are so distorted that the cover will not hold the detent on the locking spur. Fix, Leon Harris or an accomplished Jewelery crafstman.

Locking spur is not reaching out far enough to engage cover detent. Disassemble case and clean out the spur area until it works again.

If all else fails, send it to Leon Harris and be prepared to wait awhile. He is very busy.

Thanks David for your reply.Looks as if the cover will have to be built up a tad.So off to the jeweler. Roger
