Kevin PestorElgin watch grades
I have 2 elgin 6 sz watches with the male stem.I looked up the ser numbers and one is grade 97 and the other is grade 101.
I was wondering if the mainspring is interchangeable?
Thanks for all help.

John D. DuvallKevin,
Recheck the serial number of the grade 97 watch because I believe a grade 97 is an 18s.

Your grade 101 uses an Elgin 824 spring.

Kevin PestorYes it is a grade 67, both watch movements look alike though the grade 67 is older.
John are the springs interchangeable and are they not too hard to find ?

John D. DuvallKevin,
The grade 67 also uses the #824 mainspring. I checked dashto.com and Tom has 35 Swiss made white alloy springs for $4.00 ea and I'm sure Uncle Larry has them too.
If you visit dashto.com, look for item number
202.103.Good luck!
