I recently bought a new watch similar in shape and color to the ones shown below but of a different make.

My hunter case does not open fully, like the one on the left. In fact it is worse, the edge of the cover reaching the 11 and 7 hour marks.

How can I make this cover open further, enabling the entire watch dial to be viewed straight on like the picture on the right? Simply forcing it to open further sounds dangerous to me...
