Elgin Repair Question "Click" to Login or Register

I am repairing an Elign 16s 17 jewel (had to re-staff it). The pallet bridge jewel fell out. Is it held in by compression, is it to be shellac'ed in, or did I lose a piece? Thanks

Sometimes people ream out a hole to fit a larger jewel. And they get the hole too big.
I would suggest you take a round face punch and GENTLY peen the hole from both sides.Just enough to get the jewel tight.
Otherwise you will have to go to a larger O.D.jewel.

Thanks. So it should reasonably force fit in?
