I received this email, this is out of my area of knowledge, does anybody know. This is the email I received? "I've recently inherited a gold pocket watch with the following inscriptions on the movement: Frank Anshutz; SN#276002; Chalmers Pat. #121982; Shenandoah JA. I would be grateful for information about this watch."" Thanks, Jack Goldstein

Jack, This sounds like a private label Illinois. The Chalmer patent may have been something to do with the regulator on these watches. Please recheck the patent number. Here is the patent for 121982. ![]() Also, could it be Shenandoah VA instead of JA? We will need a picture of the movement for a positive ID. ![]()

Jack - The watch would be a private-label Illinois ... a 15 jewel grade 100 that was made in about 1885. The Chalmer's patent regulator was used on many 18 size Illinois watches made during the 1880's and 1890's. Here is a private-lable Bunn Special grade with a Chalmer's regulator ... Chalmer's regulator on 18 size Illinois And lastly, I believe the correct name and location to be "Frank Anschutz, Shenandoah IA". I have seen several other Illinois watches marked with this name. Hope this helps! Fred
