Donald E. JonesWere 992B Elinvar Equipped?
Please excuse my lack of knowledge on this subject! Did 992B's come standard equipped with Elinvar? I have two 992B watches, and each has a white metal, solid balance, with white metal hairspring. I assume this is Elinvar material.

Robert M. SweetDonald,
I might add to Lindell's comments that when the 992B was introduced in 1940 a much improved Elinvar hairspring was used and designated "Elinvar Extra" in their literature.

Robert M. SweetDonald,
Below is some additional info from a Hamilton Tech. Bulletin about the "Elivar Extra" that may be of help.

Donald E. JonesI now see why 992B's are so highly reguarded, and where their intrinsic accuracy comes from. My two 992B's are the most accurate watches I have. One of them will give a quartz watch a run for it's money! If I keep it wound properly, it never has to be reset. It keeps perfect time!
