Larry K. BurwellRobert, This is very interesting information you posted from Hamilton. I think we have to believe a letter concerning what the factory stated they have already done above any speculation today otherwise and that includes the statement that the first 992-B watches were shipped out in the "IVORY colored plastic cigarette boxes"--NOT BLUE ones.
Best regards,
Larry

Robert M. SweetLarry,
Thanks, I think the paragraph below is especially important, it tells the case model and dial that was used on the first shipment of 940 watches.
It mentions the pre-shipment of 8 watches. These could have been C001-C008, but we probably will never know! It also mentions about ordering the 992B in the cases previously used on the 992E, which would have been several models.

Terry HillThe "Gelson List" and other source records that we have seem to match up with examples seen/observed.
The serial number list here
https://ihc185.infopop.cc/eve/f...54108073/m/864108073has proven to follow known examples up until approximately 1954.. then the existing records disappear... we are left to attempt a recreation of the dating from this point on.
