I have a Hamilton pocket watch 992B with the serial number of C718.
Would it be correct to assume that this watch was one of the first runs of the 992B in 1940?

Hello James,

Looking at this post researched by Lindell V. Riddle...

HAMILTON 992B MOVEMENT NUMBERS YEAR-BY-YEAR FROM 1940 THROUGH 1970

...that would be correct.

Thank you for the very prompt information.
Being that it was one of the first produced does this increase the value of this particular watch?

3 digit 992B's are fairly scarce, 2 digit are getting rare. Anything under C-30 are rare and noteworthy and may bring out the collectors to bid away and throw crazy money into the mix !!
