Greg CrockettAn Aeroplane Watch & fob
Greetings; This cheapo watch has survived the years rather well. It was clearly made as a souvenir for people attending early airshows to see the latest flying machines. In front of the stadium is some sort of triple winged plane.
The name "AEROPLANE WATCH" is significant for the archaic spelling which tends to date the watch, and that this Swiss watch was clearly made for sale in an English speaking market.
In the foreground of the dial is a Blériot type mono-plane with a propeller which turns as the watch ticks. The prop being attached to an elongated escape wheel shaft.

Greg CrockettThe Swiss movement is of the Roskopf style, which was an inexpensive but rugged movement. These were made by several Swiss companies. The steel case has an inner glass movement cover so kids could see the watch ticking but not get dust and dirt in the mechanism.
