Loomes 21st ed has nothing on a John Boyd in Glascow.

I did find in the 1891 Scotland Census a John Boyd born about 1837 in Johnstone, Renfrewshire & living in Glasgow Govan, Lanarkshire & was listed as jeweler & watchmaker, he was located at 141 Pollok St.

His son John Boyd was living with him at the time & was also listed as a jeweler & watchmaker. The son was born about 1865 in Greenock, Renfrewshire

I will see what else I can find
