Masonic fusee
Can anyone help with information about a Fusee pocket watch dating from (I think)the 1870’s. its in a silver swing out, coin edge case which has hallmarks showing that it was assayed in Chester, England in 1874 it has the letters JN stamped in the case which may be the mark of James Neale a Case maker of Ryley Street & Hill Street, Coventry. The cartouche is engraved with the initials A. M. It is 57mm across. The Fusee movement is unsigned but has the serial number 4367. The bullseye crystal is in near mint condition. The silver dial is edged in gold, has gold Roman Numerals and is engraved with a number of Masonic emblems.
I bought it on ebay from a US seller who said it had belonged to his great grandfather and had been lying unused for over 60 years, I have given it a gentle wind and it will run for a short period and then stop - I'm hoping a clean and service will put this right.
I would be very pleased if anyone could give me a bit more information about this watch
regards

Hi Tom
Do you have any masonic watches? if so I would be most interested in seeing pictures of them. I'm a Mason too and have a small collection of masonic timepieces and fobs.
Wouldn't it be good if the IHC185 had a masonic section

Gerald

I was always taught to be cautious but this really is a lovely watch - I do hope you wear it to the masonic do's so that you can show it off.
