Hi Ralph

A very nice watch !

The problem is not to give you any information it is more to give you just the information needed. !

Longines is a swiss watch watch making company located in St. Imier, roots back to 1832 and still existing as a part of the Swatch Group.

Official Website - mainpage

(go to 'The Company' then 'history' and 'museum')

There is also a series of 10 videos from The longines Museum

The watch: (hard to get any details from this pictures)

A nice example of a Longines pw 17j hunter cased made ca 1910. There should be a number of the movement close to the balance (19.71 or 18.79)
With this finish and damskeening it was dedicated to the american customer. Lot of those watches were delivered as movements and cased by the importer. Are there any markings on the case.
The dust cover shows medailles of awards achived at exhibitions and fairs.
The dial has tree golden stars (more often you find the typical winged hourglas logo of Longines)
I am not sure about the meanig of the stars. It could be similiar to Elgin's 'timed by the stars' because Longines was very proud when they reached the level of producing observatory certified chronographs.

Thanks Gerald,
The markings in the case are the serial number 2465336 a logo that says EFCO and Longines and the 18k gold marking. He can't see any number near the balance.

The current holder of this watch has checked with Longines who said this would have been a watch sent to South American and his grandfather told him that he won it in a card game in Peru in about 1915.

Any thoughts on value?

Here's a photo of the inside case back.

With an 18K Gold Case this is in the $600-$900 range. Nice spot for a card game
