I stumbled upon this article about Capt Bligh's chronometer and how it made its way around: Why was the captain of the Bounty so desperate to save the ship's chronometer? Timepiece that held the key to the most infamous mutiny in British naval history also this one about it's inaccuracy: The Story of the Bounty Chronometer

Very enjoyable , thanks Kevin Captain Bligh was able to complete a remarkable 47-day voyage to Timor in the Dutch East Indies . History sometimes distorts the truth, Bligh was many things, including a tough guy.
