re: Mainspring substitution for Waterbury
Hi All,

I have a 'WTB' ad on for Waterbury rotary longwind mainsprings, probably will not get any, but would like to know if anyone has been able to find a substitute to use for these watches?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Bila

What is the size of the mainspring?

Hi Melvin,

I have not pulled one of them apart yet, I thought I would try to find some first. The only dimensions I have are the length, and that's 9 feet long.

And only 158 turns to wind according to the article I found on this site The Waterbury Watch Museum. Eek

Yes Robert I read a similar article on another site about the amount of turns to wind it up. I would say it will probably have to be a small clock spring such as an alarm clock or something like that for the spring substitution, I hoped someone might of already pulled one apart and did the measurements as I am yet to find a parts book or chart with the dimensions in.

Best Wishes to You All for the Festive season,
Regards,
