David AbbePacking Pocket Watches
Shipping Pocket watches by USPS Priority Mail is a most commendable method of getting your treasure there quickly and . . .
MAYBE "SAFELY"!!!!Packing the watch in a baggie first, then wrapping it (and the note explaining what you want done with it) in crumply Newspaper, surrounded by more lightly crumpled newspaper to "float" it in a 7"x7"x6" (free from the Post office) BOX will get your watch there quickly and in good order.
Packing the watch (or three together as shown below) in a bubble pack loosely stuffed in a Poat Office "Small Flat Rate" box will give 50%+ assurance that the watch will arrive at its destination with at least a broken Balance staff, and if packed in a Group of three as pictured below, can and will often result in further collateral damage to crystals, Hands, Dials, etc.
REMEMBER, WATCHES ARE PRECISION MECHANICAL INSTRUMENTS OF TIME. VALUABLE, COLLECTIBLE, AND FRAGILE!!!September 26, 2013, 16:19

Claude Griffithbeen there before, I purchased a 18s Bunn Special 21j and the seller just put it inside a flimsy envelope and during the shipping it took a jolt strong enough to break the staff so I put a claim in and returned it to the seller for a refund.
