Paul D. TrombleyWhat is a "case restrike"
Does anyone have pictures of a "restrike" so I know what to look for?
Or, it might be a simple definition I already know but am not making the connection on.
Thanks a mil,
Pault

Buster BeckOK- Even some of the so called "experts" can be fooled at times by these cases

On the main page click the "Find-Or-Search" blue tab, a drop down tab will allow you to enter anything you want to look for that's been previously discussed. In this instance just put in "restrike cases". Then you can do some "power-reading & research". This is a powerful tool that we have at our fingertips and will allow anyone with a desire for knowledge to get the inside scoop

Bill SullivanBuster,
Thanks for those links, you in particular continue to amaze me with the amount of knowledge you keep in that head. The $12 I paid to join here was the best money I've spent in many years!
And I add a sorry about the searching, Debbie explained all that to me once before (and I've been doing it) and I didn't think of it when I read this post, I should have, I got lazy!

David AbbeThere are many Case re-strikes done for reasons of greed or only known by the "doer". But Paul, this one on your Waltham Model 1883 being cleaned by Earl now is Legitimate. I would like to know more about Gopher and how and when they were (evidently) bought out by Crescent.

Richard M. JonesHaving purchased what I thought was an original case that was a restrike I believe some method should be used to note that they are reproductions or restrikes. I personally think there is a legitimate place for these cases (and dials too) but that absolutely should be disclosed.
