I wanted to share this nice Maximus that I recently got kind of by accident, it was from an auction I was lucky enough to win, I thought I was bidding on a 1920's Crescent St.The seller didn't mention anything about the movement.this came in a later model Waltham/Wadsworth RR case, and the silver metal dial was junk.I wanted to get it looking back the way it should, so I found this really nice 20Yr. Philadelphia SB&B case, has no brass and no wear to speak of.I had this double-sunk "Engineer" dial, which is correct for all Waltham railroad grades of this age, and it goes perfect with the original blue hands that were on it.I know many of these had a lighter Arabic dial with Waltham in script, but I read elsewhere that many of them used in RR service had the dials changed to much bolder ones like mine.I like this dial way better than the other type anyway.This has a light hairline, but not bad enough to bother me.This one is lever set, so it's a little more scarce than the pendant sets.This has a gold train and all diamond cap jewels, even has damaskeening down on the pillar plate between the bridges!The other good thing that came out of this is I ended up with a near mint cond. Waltham WGF RR case that this Max came in, so I used that for my 21J Crescent St.,which was the first railroad watch I ever bought way back in 1974.It had been in a Star RGP case, looks much nicer in its new home.Rob, being the true gentleman he is, was kind enough to post these pics on here for me, since I can't seem to do anything like that myself.You couldn't ask for a better guy to work with Than Rob Carter!
