God Morning,Good Sunday,

Thank you,
Bulent

Tom BrownHave you looked under the bridge plates for any numbers? I think the possibility exists that it could be two different models put together.
What size is the movement?

Bulent OgelSize is 16S. Probably grade 152, class 35. On all similar models the serial number is on the train plate.
Under the train plate there is number 36502 stamped.

Tom BrownIs the same number stamped on the other parts & under the dial?

Ray HallenbeckStrange indeed as it appears that the damaskeening is a match on both plates

Bulent OgelMovment has no dial.
Number on the main plate is same.
Number on the barrel bridge is different.

Tom BrownBulent, I would have to guess then that the serial number of the original dial plate & train bridge was written on the original barrel bridge.
I have seen Illinois watches put together from different bridges so there is no exposed serial number.

    last run of grade 152
Tom, if the barrel plate was used from another movement then that means that there were two that didn't have a serial number...
I agree with Ray in that the damaskeening does look like a match from plate to plate....

Jerry

Jerry KingBulent, this one comes pretty close to looking like yours....and is a grade 313 and will fit in the serial number sequence....this is one of the 278 runs made of the 313:
17036001 17036001 2000 1912 313 16s o3n7p 15j e

Jerry KingBulent, on yours I notice that the USA is not under the "Elgin Nat'l Watch Co." like most are....I thought that to be odd also....
Let see what others think....

Jerry

Tom BrownDon't know if this helps. I have a serial number list that goes up to the year 1900 or approx # 12,000,000
Looking through it the ones that show up as possible with 15 jewels are
3336502 grade 4 class 24 3/4 hunting nickel 3rd model lever
9236502 grade 247 class 93 3/4 hunting nickel 6th model pendent
9836502 grade 220 class 92 3/4 hunting nickel model 6 pendant
11536502 grade 305 class 107 3/4 hunting nickel 6th model pendant.
Is your pendant of lever set, hunting or open.
What are the numbers under the barrel bridge.

Claude GriffithI think I have seen one or two posted examples on the net of watches that were missing the serial number or some of the markings. In the case of Elgin making tens of millions watches dropping the ball on something would not be unbelievable. That fact that you don't see mistakes like this more often probably tells you their QC methods were decent.
Also if you pop the dial you should see a symbol and a series of numbers, the numbers are part of the serial number.

Jerry KingBulent, the No. 42527 does fall within the Grade 152 serial numbers....in the fifth to last run....
