Hamilton 16s Dial. Is it anything Special?
Hi Guys. I just purchased this 16 size Hamilton 992 lever set. I believe this dial is the first one I have seen like it. Is there any information anyone has about this dial? It is double sunked. Movement serial number is 1126xxx. Thanks.

Hi Sham

I like this dial. Looks like a Ball dial with Ham logo. It was used on mid grade Ham watches like the 956 17j.

Sham,

As Charlie mentioned, there is a striking similarity to Ball Official RR Standard dials.

This is an interesting find. Looking through some of the Hamilton advertising I did not come across this dial listed and I too would like to know more about it. Your movement number dates to the mid teens, my impression and it is only an impression is of yours being from a somewhat later time, perhaps it is a replacement dial.

In the image below, you will see how closely your dial is related to a 16 size Ball ORRS Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen dial design from around the turn of the Twentieth Century. Later Ball dials would be progressively bolder and this "Ball's Standard" dial design was also be used on their Railway Station clocks.

Ball's Standard dial design is very similar...

Thank you Charlie and Lindell for your inputs. That is what I thought. It does look like a Ball dial. It is double sunked glass enameled.
