Keith KlimkowiczEarly 19j Illinois Bunn
Hi All
Just arrived this nice early 19j Illinois Bunn. I have reseached the information that Steve Middlesworth has posted. This is a model 9 with a total production of 1,700 watches +/-. Is the 24hr (straight line Illinois) dial scarce? Should this watch be housed in a Canadian case? Any comments welcome.
Thanks
Keith

Roland GlennGood question. As being in Canada and I have few pocket watches with the 24hr "Canadian" dial. Most of mine do infact have Made in Canada cases such as Mira, Belmont,Fortune. I've also seen cases by American manufactures, but with Canada stamped on them like from Star Watch Case Company. There is also the idea that it's only a Canadian style 24hr dial and that it could be bought at a jeweller state side. I know that to keep a watch straight, it could be all Canadian. Does your watch look like its been recased?
Hope that helped a bit, and that more experienced collectors can add to this question of yours.
Roland.

Steve MiddlesworthKeith,
Beautiful watch and that dial is really cool...very nice straightline dial with the 24 hour markings. It looks as though that case has only been home to an Illinois movement which could mean it was recased but the other possibilty is that it may have been used on the Mexican rail roads which I believe could make that case correct as the 24 hour dial was also used there.
That one if it came up on ebay must have been there the week or so I was without my computer due to a crashed hard drive. Glad to see a beauty like that fell into the hands of one of our members.
