Preston MeansWaltham 16s Model Differences
I'm a new member and interested in Waltham watches. I have several 16s and notice the Complete Guide doesn't show any difference between the 1899, 1908 and 1912 movements. Is there a difference once a movement is disassembled?

David AbbePreston welcome to our "bunch". The differences of the Waltham 16 sizes from 1899 up are small. The basic design was the same, the changes were mostly in details of Jeweling methods and how much finish work was done on the plates. The 1912 had the most radical design change by rotating the position of the setting lever to the other side of the winding neck to eliminate the "Achilles Heel" of the easily broken setting lever on the 1899-1908 models

Tom BrownHi Preston
Glad to have you with us.
According to Ehrhardt's American Pocket Watches Encyclopedia & Price Guide;
"All material used in 16 size, 1908 model is the same as used in 16 size 1899 model with the following exceptions: Balance cock P grade using 4889-A Regulator (Whiplash); Crown Wheel; Crown Wheel Washer; and Winding Pinion."
The book doesn't mention the 1912.
