I have a Illinos "Autocrat" size 12. How do I open the movement cover? Hate to be a "dummy" but here I are!!!

Would it be possible to see the case, I think those came in several styles, does it have a hinge at the bottom? Is it a round case or one of the other shapes that some came in?

If you have the watch back facing you at about the 1 o'clock position there should be either a small ridge sticking up or a slight grove in the case near there. Gently prying there with a fingernail or a case opening knife the back should pop open.

Here is a photo of a case back with the ridge.

Roger,

As you are looking at the back of the case, near the 1:00 position you should see a break in the seam of the lid. Sometimes you can get your fingernail in there and start to spread it. Move couterclockwise around and it should pop open. Or you can push a pocket knive or case knife in there and it should pop open. Careful though...don't cut yourself.
