Patrick WallinWhat is this? Possibly used in staking?
Works fine and seems to be all there. It came for the estate of a time lock watchmaker. A well known time lock engineer Floyd Galway who passed 3 days short of his 100th birthday. RIP Floyd.

Jim BielefeldtHow do you know it works, and its all there if you dont know what it is?

Patrick WallinAW, As I said "SEEMS" to be all there and if you would stick your thumb under that little pointy thing I will turn the handle so you can see it works. Seriously, do you know what it is? I would guess for some type of jeweling.

Bila WirriganwaltersPossibly a staking tool Patrick, looks like that pointed punch can be removed so otehr tool pieces could be fitted. Also with the adjustable fitting that goes across the staking plate you can place a canon pinion there for tightening .

David AbbeNose piercing tool for the recalcitrant customer. Look familiar?
June 11, 2013, 11:07
Jim BielefeldtI know, its a ear piercing tool for giants!

It could also be a medieval torture device.

Edward L. Parsons, Jr.How about a staking tool for clocks?
June 11, 2013, 11:45
David AbbeEd, seriously, I have to agree that is it for assembly or staking things together. Clearly the round bar thingys with their own thumb-screws are part of the design, the pointy thing . . . hmmmm.
The amount of force that can be generated by the mechanism is what leaves me to question what exactly
WHAT it might be intended to service the construction and/or assembly of . . .

Patrick WallinDavid, where did you take the picture of the 4 legged, long haired, hippy with a ring in its nose? A farmer down the road has about 10 of them in his grazing pasture.
