a lovely Waltham Cronometro Victoria movement with gold jewel settings ,gold movement screws ,and gold case screws. It is running and keeping time but needs a COA. Does anyone know how you tell if this is 15 or 21 jewel? Is the 21 jewel marked,and not the 15? thanks,Tom

I would think since the center wheel is not jeweled this would be a 15J watch.

The Waltham database says it is a 15j, mdl. 1899, Hunter....

Bill ; I was looking at another friend's Chonometro Victoria which has a movement signed Waltham ,not Chronometro Victoria, but it has what looks like a fancy designed and coloured Chronometro Victoria dial,perhaps an O'Hara!! . What is interesting is that this case is marked Victoria 14k ,however the pawn shop that had it acid tested it on the outside face of the hunting case and there is a 1/2" circle dead center burnt right down to the brass!!

I had never seen a movement not marked as a Chronometro Victoria, but in reality it is just an inexpensive 15j mvmt. All of the ones I have seen have been marked, with the sun emblem imprinted. The cases commonly apparently were made by Estrella, and this also has the sun emblem on it. I do not know how thry get or got away with the false gold markings, but was likely before laws had been passed.

Yes a bit odd since the case is signed though a phony 14k , and the dial is amazing!!!

I have a very pretty 14 size Cronometro Victoria that is in a solid 18k gold case. There's no doubt about that given how soft the metal is and how many dents I had to get removed.

That is really a WOW dial and case, which movement is in yours ?
There was obviously different dials, hands,cases, etc. depending on what the customer wanted,

I was obviously typing as you were posting, it's interesting that yours does not have the sun on the movement.

If my memory serves me correctly these watches were for the export market in South America.At least in 16 size both the movement and dial should be marked. I am less sure about the case.
