First Glass Hunting Crystals Produced
I made my very first hunting crystal this morning! My first test was a small group of crystal blanks made from 0.4mm (.016") glass sheet. This is the typical thickness for most vintage HC glass in the 12, 16 & 18s range. This initial trial went extremely well with few surprises and from the 6 pieces that I started with, 4 are usable!

The flat glass discs started with a diameter of 47.5mm and after forming they are 46.5mm. After sizing I'm guessing that a 43.xx - 44.xx would have a height of 6 or 7.

I will now need spend time recording my process variations for making the different heights as they align to diameter. The glass is not cheap but it is available. I will continue this pursuit as time allows. Availability and cost have yet to be determined.

In my experience William makes the finest pocket watch crystals available in the world today. I am quite sure this newest edition to the several other versions of crystals he makes will be equally superb. As an added bonus William is an honest and thoughtful gentleman in all of his dealings.

First fit/install performed on the only hunting case watch that I own. The original crystal had a large bubble which has bothered me for years! All went as expected and the fit is perfect! 41.6mm and the Inside clearance is about 1mm which would make it a H7 I guess. The glass used is 0.4mm float made in Belgium. Clarity is great. Making these crystals looks like a promising endeavor.
