Dial: Hamilton Traffic Controller
I have a NOS Hamilton Dial marked : HAMILTON TRAFFIC SPECIAL. Does anyone know which movement would be correct for this dial and what was its application. Thanks

If memory serves me right, those dials went with a Swiss Hamilton 669 pocket watch.

Do you have a picture of the movement?

Hi Dan. Thank you for your response. I do not have a movement (that I know of). The dial and hands are held within a plastic ring. I would like to determine what is the correct movement and if worthwhile I would build it up.

I agree. I wouldn't mind having a nice 669. I passed up on a few of them when I started collecting 992Bs. Now I wish I would have taken the time to buy one.

Thank you for the input. I do not have an 669 so will be on lookout for one. If I dont see one I may just move the dial on and let someone else do it. I am not short of projects at the present time.

John, while I can understand the hour and minute hands may be held in by orphaned cannon and hour wheel parts, If this is a "dial only", what does that backside of that dial show to hold on the seconds hand so realistically?

Hi Dave, I want to thank you for that question. Shows YOU are thinking. I had not paid any particular attention to what was holding the dial and hands together but only on the dial and hands. Your question made me really look at it. I think it is something different than holding a dial for transport but a device for displaying the dial and hands WHEN IN A CASE ie a salesmans sample or display dial so to speak.
It does indeed have the orphaned cannon pinion as well as one for the second hand. I addition it has the hole for the stem and two holes for the dial feet. It also fit inside a 16 sz case and with the bezel and back on it appears to be a complete watch. I had no idea there was such a thing, I am adding some pics so you can see what I mean. Any thoughts.

That's pretty cool as is. I'd display it as a conversation piece.

I have to be careful when people visit the house... know it's time to move on when their eyes start to glaze over.

Thanks guys. Probably should have a nice display (sales mans) case to show it off. Unfortunately I think I sold my last one a while back. For now it will live in the above case.
