Claude GriffithElgin grade 478 16s 21j BWR adjusted to 6 positions, any more out there???
While I was doing for 6 size movements, in the search was an adjusted to 6 positions Elgin, so I was thinking, hmm it isn't a 571 so it has to be a 506 since it was not a wind indicator which kept it from being a grade 494. I had noticed that the 506 can be found to have an over-stamped 6 over the 5, I have never seen a grade 478 with a stamp for 6 positions and it is the same type of over stamp as my grade 506s (2 with 1 without). This one is from the 38M run which would have put it more than a few runs after the grade 506 (~34,6M ending). I am wondering if anyone else has seen a grade 478 marked adjusted to 6 positions?
Bill Manders picked up a grade 506 that has this over-stamp type marking that I mentioned in another post. I was a bit surprised by seeing a grade 478 with a adjusted to 6 positions marking and it also has a white metal hairspring which some 478's had instead of the blued metal hairspring.

Claude GriffithWatch arrived today and I cleaned the case which would be mint to near mint if it was not for 2 slight dings. The 6 is the same overstamp type 6 as the 506 which I will get those out and take pictures of all 3. Worth the $199 I paid for the BIN and a adj6p marked 478 is a rare bird since this is the first one I have seen.
